CAPI (Conversions API) is TikTok’s server-side tracking solution. Instead of relying on a browser pixel that can be blocked by iOS, Safari ITP, or ad blockers, CAPI sends your conversion events from your server directly to TikTok. It dramatically improves match rates and gives TikTok’s algorithm better purchase data to optimise on.
Not necessarily. TikTok CAPI can be implemented directly via your platform (Shopify, WooCommerce) or server. However, having GTM already configured makes it cleaner and more maintainable. We scope the best approach during the free audit based on your current setup.
They solve the same problem (browser tracking loss) but for different platforms. TikTok uses Events API with a different deduplication mechanism (event_id + pixel_code). Meta uses their Conversions API with a separate deduplication ID. We configure both correctly if you run ads on both platforms.
TikTok scores match quality from 0–10. Under 5 is poor and means TikTok can’t reliably identify who converted. 7+ is good, 9+ is excellent. With pixel only, most stores sit between 2–4. With Events API and advanced matching configured properly, we consistently achieve 8.5–9.5.
